VR — Virtual Reality describes a wholly ‘man-made’ CGI rendered/customized digital world in which the user is immersed and able to interact with. 3D or 360° spaces of this nature are accessible via mobile, tablet or desktop and are readily transferable to VR headsets.
AR — Augmented Reality on the other hand is the pairing of the real world with enhancing digital elements. AR enables the display of virtual objects in the physical world using a device’s camera, and includes additive filters, virtual makeup or appearance renders and even clothing, accessories or furniture fittings. &
MR — Mixed Reality finally is an even more immersive virtual reality, where real life objects can be merged into virtual realities as for example players into a digital game or space. MR can also include the combination of holographic real world images and virtual images upon a real life space and requires the use of immersive goggles or headsets.
Immersive experiences afford the patrons of a site, platform or application the ability to interact with and experience an enhanced real world or virtual space, in a much more meaningful way than current standards of 2-dimensional website platforms are able to.

As Goethe’s German language and culture learning localities faced worldwide difficulties during the pandemic and other political crises, newkinco were sought to support collaboration with their communities. Following this, throughout 2021 in an immersive experience focused venture, work begun creating the prototype for a 3D metaverse multiplayer digital space.
Within this tailored digital realm, participants can meet other users, join live-streamed conversations, watch movies and audio-visual performances, as well as listen to concerts, podcasts and live DJ sessions. The project metaverse prototype has previously been put to use within Goethe internal events and is now in preparation to be scaled.
Also in 2021 following the wake of the pandemic newkinco ventured into collaboration with the cultural heritage management project Hermap — of Heritage Iran. The EU co-funded “artistic research residency program” focuses on artist collaborators from Europe engaging with those in Iran.
Newkinco oversaw the helping of involved artists to translate their concepts into digital artwork and to facilitate the exchange between digital residents, and to create a digital experience platform to best mirror the previous physical residency. The ongoing shared experience platform also housed an exhibition of various artworks archiving exchanges between artists of the residency. The project’s tasks also included: Concept, facilitation, communication, branding & design, website development and implementation.
Along the journey of 2021, reflecting and adapting to our clients rapidly developing demands, newkinco identified the growing need for a platform able to reflect a new requirement for self expression and community engagement in evolving digital spaces. Inspired by the philosophical concept of impermanence as a constant state of transformation, Anitya was born.
Anitya is to serve as a multifunctional social art and gaming metaverse creation platform with a strong focus on its super simple ease of use. The metaverse creator platform is also to be available as an app with a suite of products including NFT minting, metaverse discovery, and an in-house crypto token, plus integrated crowdfunding possibility, integral metaverse world curation and prioritized community building values.
In 2021 a sensorial IRL biennale of art, ecology and society of Vevey Switzerland was transitioned into the global digital URL world. Following the travel restricted times of COVID, and capitalizing on the archiving and immensely increased global accessibility opportunities presented by a hybridized availability of the event, newkinco were tasked with constructing an immersive platform capable of bringing the program’s experiences to the global public at large.
Responsible for collaborating on art direction, co-curation, comms strategy & content, UX/UI design, website implementation, and the production of online events, newkinco were able to create a digital platform to serve as the core of Foodculture days new rendition. Eleven IRL artistic actions were held across sites in Vevey. Seven exclusively digital artworks were exhibited. Fifteen different online dialogues connecting an international community were opened. And Two 3D immersive environments of art exhibition were created to be experienced on the platform.
Presently newkinco are hard at work in collaboration with anitya on an immersive metaverse platform for Tales at Home. Tales have been building mini-games in collaboration with children for several different initiatives. In collaboration with Anitya this material is carefully being collected to be transformed into digital assetsthat will compose the worlds of the first metaverse we are to build together. There, users will be able to learn about different mythologies and ecologies, and play together in a three dimensional multiplayer environment.
In 2021 Tales of Us tasked newkinco to facilitate and create more innovative ways for children to engage with educational content regarding the awareness of mythology, culture and environment. In this collaboration, the purpose was to create a bridge between children and cultures other than their own, bringing forward the importance of race and identity politics in environmentalism. At the core of the project was situated the belief in a shifting of fear- based environmental messaging toward positive-focused storytelling, and to raise awareness about mythologies, places of ecological importance and decolonial narratives among kids.
With the responsibility to collaborate on organization design, co-creation, website implementation, video game development and community facilitation newkinco created an animated online series and platform to support exercises, quizzes, workshops and an introduction to meditation. A series of online events connecting a community of experts, to amplify and share Tales of Us’ research. And a video game to delve into the possibilities of storytelling through an immersive gamified experience.
